Registrations open for 'Heat Management in Sport and Exercise' Symposium

Sports Medicine Australia and the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport (JSAMS) are conducting a one-day Heat Management in Sport and Exercise Symposium – a hybrid event with options to attend in-person in Sydney or online via livestream.

Managing heat in sport presents significant challenges with implications for athlete safety, performance, and policy implementation across all levels of sport.

This symposium brings together experts at the forefront of sports medicine, physiology, and performance to share the latest research and practical strategies for managing heat in both elite and community sport. Sessions will explore real-world applications and hands-on mitigation strategies, providing valuable tools for those working in athlete health and performance.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

•Practical applications of heat policies for athletes and communities with Prof Ollie Jay, Prof John Orchard, Dr Sharron Flahive and Dr James Smallcombe.

•Heat mitigation strategies and implementation for endurance and team sports with Edgar Schwarz, Prof Rob Duffield and Prof Julien Périard.

•Practitioner perspectives with Dr Katie Slattery, Erin McCleave, Fabian Ehrmann and Sally Walker.

The symposium will be facilitated by JSAMS Editor-in-Chief, Prof Tim Meyer.
