Redevelopment for Manukau's Norman Kirk pool
Manukau City Council is to redevelop the Norman Kirk Memorial Pool at the Otara Leisure Centre to provide more use of the facilities and offer improved health benefits to the community.
The NZ$10.3 million project will include improved pool change area and upgrade and extension of existing plant and pump room. A new extension will provide office and storage, learners pool, splash pool, spa pool and sauna and combined leisure fun activity and lap pool. The outdoor pool will be retained.
The council has appointed Davis Langdon New Zealand Ltd as project manager with Ignite Architects Limited providing the design services.
A project development team has been formed which includes representatives from the Otara Community Board.
The Otara Leisure Centre is owned by the council and run by Manukau Leisure Services Ltd., a council-controlled organisation.
