Queue management experts conclude Merlin deal while targeting Asian markets
Theme park queue management company Accesso Technology has signed a three-year deal with Merlin Entertainments that will see its Passport ticketing, e-commerce and ride reservation software introduced at the UK’s Thorpe Park theme park.
The technology allows park guests to buy and book tickets online as well as reserve places in ride queues. It uses technology that the company, formerly known as Lo-Q, inherited as part of the acquisition of America’s Accesso LLC at the end of 2012.
Accesso Chief Executive Tom Burnet is delighted to be working with Merlin, the world’s second largest attractions operator.
Hopeful that successful use of their technology will see Acesso work with Merlin across their global attractions network, Burnet recently stated “clearly, the most exciting aspect is the chance to extend our work with Merlin, which is home to a team that delivers outstanding park experiences in many corners of the world.
“To sign an agreement of this kind is a strong show of support for our innovative technology, our people and the track-record we've worked hard to build.”
Accesso is also targeting the growing Asian attractions market, looking to expand its current customer base of around 400 clients – the majority of which are in the USA.
Burnet added that he was keen for Accesso to be part of a market which is growing at 15% a year.
The group has already struck one contract to work at Movie Animation Park Studios in Malaysia when it opens in 2015.
