Queensland community groups bolstered by $12.7 million funding

The latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) will see 545 local Queensland community groups benefit from more than $12.7 million in funding with successful organisations using their funding to purchase new items such as: sporting equipment; upgrade websites; to host events; or develop education programs.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman today announced the successful organisations and opened the latest round of grants for application.

Minister Fentiman noted “our not-for-profit organisations are the heart and soul of Queensland communities. These grants will help these hard-working groups continue and build on their work, and help deliver relevant services to our locals.

“Local businesses and suppliers are set to benefit too as many of our community groups turn to them to purchase equipment, and for building services giving a much-needed boost to our economy, especially in regional Queensland.”

Minister Fentiman said local families and community members are benefiting from the welcomed boost to our local sporting clubs, P&Cs, PCYCs, and other not-for-profit groups that these grants provide. 

"We’ve also funded initiatives to encourage children to attend school more often by making transport more accessible; for equestrian activities for people with a disability, including competition and therapeutic recovery; to provide meals to vulnerable people, and to support youth mental health.

"If you belong to a not-for-profit group and have a need for funding for an item or project between $500 and $35,000, I encourage you to go online and apply for the next round of funding.”
