QPAC curates dynamic program of performances and events for Glasshouse Theatre

The Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) is curating a dynamic program of performances and events for its newest venue, Glasshouse Theatre, which will open in 2026.

A new investment of $8 million over four years through the 2025 Queensland State Budget will support QPAC to program vibrant events, new commissions and major international seasons across its five venues from 2026.

The world premiere of The Drover's Wife – The Opera by acclaimed Queensland artist Leah Purcell AM will be among the first productions to debut in the new theatre.

The Glasshouse Theatre's full opening season, soon to be released, will bring together exciting new works from the State's leading arts companies, as well as world premieres, national exclusives and outstanding productions from national and international companies.

The 1,500-seat Glasshouse Theatre will combine visually stunning contemporary design with world-class innovation and technology to deliver an exceptional audience experience.

Queenslanders will have a chance to explore the spectacular $184 million theatre first-hand before the curtains rise for opening night, with QPAC hosting guided tours before the official opening season begins.

As QPAC's fifth venue, Glasshouse Theatre will create capacity for an additional 300,000 visitors each year, making QPAC Australia's largest performing arts venue under one roof and strengthening Queensland's reputation as a significant cultural destination.

Construction of Glasshouse Theatre is on track to be completed by the end of this year.
