Public transport means cheaper entry to Wellington Zoo

Continuing Go Wellington’s longstanding relationship with Wellington Zoo, anyone travelling on a Go Wellington bus to the Zoo during November will pay only half price Zoo entry.

Explaining the initiative, NZ Bus Chief Executive Zane Fulljames states “our role is to connect our communities, that can mean taking a trip somewhere or working in partnership with other organisations to connect the public with our city’s sights and activities.”

Over the past year, Go Wellington has been sponsoring charter trips to the Zoo for lower decile schools, allowing children, teachers and caregivers to visit the Zoo and take part in the Warehouse Zoofari programme.

Now the combined generosity of two Wellington institutions has been extended to the wider public.

In-line with the Zoo’s commitment to sustainability as a business and attraction, public transport is seen as the appropriate means of travel to the Zoo.

Wellington Zoo’s General Manager Community Engagement Amy Hughes adds “conservation and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do at Wellington Zoo. Taking public transport is an easy way for our visitors to have a positive impact on the local environment – and we’re rewarding them with half-price admission to the Zoo.”

Wellington Zoo is one of Wellington’s most popular public transport destinations as private car parking options are limited.

Go Wellington runs buses to the Zoo each day on routes 10 and 23 which stop immediately outside the Zoo.
