Pools at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre set for refurbishment

Victoria’s State Sport Centres (SSC) has advised that the outdoor 50 metre pool and indoor multipurpose pool at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) will close for essential works as of 1st April.

Work is understood to include maintenance of the pool liners and the moveable program floor on the indoor pool.

In an advisory, SSC explained “the extensive nature of this work means both pools will be unavailable for a period, before reopening in May (indoor) and August (outdoor) respectively.

“This project is crucial to ensure our world-class facilities continue to meet the needs of the pools’ more than 30 user groups, from elite and high performance athletes, through to schools, community sports, members and casual users.”

The advisory added “the moveable floors are an important feature that makes our pools accessible for all ages and abilities, allowing us to adjust depth for different sports and activities, so it is vital for them to remain in top condition.”
