Planning underway for first season at Goulburn Performing Arts Centre

Planning is underway for the inaugural 2022 season of performance at Goulburn Performing Arts Centre, with the selection of shows to include musical theatre, dance, opera, circus arts, comedy and shows targeted at children.

On track for completion by the end of 2021, with a community based opening weekend of events being planned for the early months of 2022, Goulburn Mulwaree Council recently employed Raina Savage in the role of Performing Arts Centre Manager, in order to prepare for the opening of this landmark facility for the region.

Savage brings over 10 years of experience within the Performing Arts industry to the role, most recently as the Griffith Regional Arts and Museum Manager.

The Council advise that Savage has a strong focus on inclusion of all diverse groups within the community, and increasing participation and engagement with performance art.

Welcoming her new role, Savage advised “this is a very exciting opportunity for the region, with GPAC’s state of the art infrastructure giving the community access to world class theatre experiences. Our focus is on Growing Our Creative Communities, providing opportunities for people of all ages to experience inspiring, uplifting and entertaining performing arts as audiences, creators and performers.”

Negotiations with leading companies are in progress to confirm the 2022 season of shows, with an exciting program expected to be previewed towards the end of this year.

Construction of the 400-seat Performing Arts Centre is well underway, with the focus for April being on installation of structural steel along with service installation such as hydraulic, fire, electrical, mechanical and IT services.

The crane is expected to remain on site until mid-May, until installation of the fly tower is complete. Following this, the area above the stage will be able to be closed, and the crane removed.
