Perth women drown in Cairns resort pool
Two Perth women have died within days of each other after they were both pulled unconscious from a resort swimming pool in Cairns in far north Queensland.
The two middle-aged women were rescued from the pool at the Trinity Links Resort in White Rock last Thursday (25th February).
A 50-year-old woman died on Saturday after relatives made the difficult decision to turn off her life support.
Queensland Police have confirmed the second woman, aged 47, died at 5am today.
Both are believed to have drowned.
A Queensland Police spokesperson stated "they just couldn't swim, it's that simple."
Paramedics and bystanders tried desperately to save the pair, administering CPR before they were rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
They had decided to take an early morning dip and, moments before the tragedy, asked a staff member to take their photograph.
However, when the worker returned, he found them both under the water, forcing him to dive in and drag them out.
