People Vote Shotover Canyon Swing Best Bungy

Shotover Canyon Swing has scooped a top award as one of New Zealand's best experiences at The 2010 Ranker Traveller Voted Awards.

The Rankers Awards named the Queenstown giant rope swing experience 'Best Bungy/Swing' after collecting more than 10,000 reviews in the last 12 months from customers who have rated their travel experiences in New Zealand on the Rankers website.

Shotover Canyon Swing was the only activity operator in Queenstown to win one of the customer endorsed awards.

General Manager Matt Hollyer said he was ecstatic to win an award decided by those who had actually completed the hair-raising activity, stating "this award is awesome because it's the adrenalin junkies who are in the driving seat, not a panel of suited and booted judges. We regard it as an achievement we can fully trust because it's a first-hand declaration by our customers that they have the best time at our place

"(The Shotover Canyon) Swing is not your average backyard swing. People hurtle at 150 km/ph through a canyon, it's crazy stuff that is just huge huge fun. This award shows how important it is to our staff that everybody finishes with a huge smile across their face."

Shotover Canyon Swing has won an array of awards over the years for its thrill-seeking experience. In 2008 it won the Adventure Activity sub-category at the New Zealand Tourism Industry Awards and was a proud recipient of the Supreme Humour in Business Award in both 2007 and 2008.

It was also named 'Best Experience' in New Zealand for the second year running at the Golden Backpack awards in Sydney.

Hollyer adds "our team of 20 works incredibly hard to deliver the best experience in New Zealand. Itâs really hard work creating a top quality attraction but we're 100% focused on delivering a fun and personalized experience to everyone who visits us.

"We rely on word of mouth and support from the industry. Our customers only keep turning up on our doorstep because they've heard from others that we give them a damn good time And this award helps us to show them that that is what they'll get."

Supreme Award winners in the 'Rankers' were Visitor Attraction Winner - Maori Tours Kaikoura; Holiday Park / Camping Ground Winner - Aspiring Campervan Park - Wanaka; and Visitor Activity Winner - Green Glow eco-adventures.
