PaySmart continues to set industry benchmark in data security

As of 12th March, new Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) have replaced the National Privacy Principles and Information Privacy Principles and will apply to organisations, and Australian Government (and Norfolk Island Government) agencies.

As many businesses check to ensure their compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles that come into effect today, it's business as usual for PaySmart who holds a high level of Payment Card Industry (PCI) complianceLevel 1 (Version 2) PCI-DSS Compliance.

The PCI Data Security Standard is an initiative of major credit card companies such as Visa and MasterCard to safeguard customer card information.

PaySmart Chief Executive Ian Jones said that in an Internet-driven world where data security is critical, PaySmart continues to set the benchmark in managing personal and sensitive information.

Jones explains "any business which accepts credit or debit cards is potentially open to breaches of security resulting in fraud and theft of information and there are big penalties for the businesses involved. By using PaySmart to manage transactions for them, our clients can be assured that their data is safe, and that we meet the highest security standards.

"Our state-of-the-art server technology is protected by some of the most sophisticated intrusion protection and data security systems available. We're audited regularly by an independent QSA, along with ongoing Intrusion monitoring by Visa AIS/PCI and security scans performed by McAfee Secure, a world renowned third party Internet security assessor."

When it comes to security standards, PaySmart accepts only the best solutions and always endeavours to exceed minimum requirements. Along with using 128-bit SSL data encryption and real-time backup of data to a secure data centre, Jones said PaySmart utilises 24-hour electronic security to safeguard its premises.

He concludes "PaySmart has always been a leader in ensuring the highest standards of security possible, and with Level 1 (Version 2) PCI-DSS Compliance rating, we've confirmed our position as one of Australia's pre-eminent providers of direct debit services."
