Participating venues combine programming to deliver Art Week Tokyo 2022

52 of Tokyo’s leading museums, galleries, and art spaces will combine programming to deliver the citywide initiative for contemporary art.

Organised in collaboration with Art Basel, Art Week Tokyo has unveiled exhibition highlights for its 2022 edition, taking place from 3rd to 6th November 2022.

The combined programming of the participating venues is a testimony to the convening power, richness, depth, and diversity of contemporary art in one of the world’s greatest cultural capitals. With all participating venues linked by special bus service during the event, Art Week Tokyo makes it easier than ever to experience the full scope of the Tokyo art scene in a concentrated period.

Highlights include:

• Retrospective exhibitions of Lee Ufan and Shinro Ohtake

• A showcase of contemporary Japanese artists, such as Rinko Kawauchi, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Ryoji Ikeda, Gozo Yoshimasu, and more

• Exceptional international artists also feature at Art Week Tokyo, including Daan van Golden, Julian Opie, and Christiane Löhr, among others

• A brand-new commission of AWT Bar, at the AWT Information Center / VIP Lounge, designed by emerging architect Motosuke Mandai, offering artist-designed cocktails

• Newly appointed Art Director Atsuki Kikuchi leads on creative element of Art Week Tokyo

• A multistrand lineup of online talks in Japanese and English also announced
