Parks and Leisure Australia welcomes new President

Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA) has named Mark Casserly as its new President.

Casserley, a former local government recreation manager, has run his Perth-based consultancy CCS Strategic since 1994.

Appointed at the recent PLA National Conference in Cairns, Casserley explained “as the incoming President of PLA I feel privileged to have the opportunity to lead the organisation at a time where recent transitions have unveiled exciting opportunities - and a few challenges - as we move forward.

“My primary aims over the next 12 months are to refine and streamline governance practices, improve general organisational profile - internally and externally - and to highlight the outstanding work that is occurring in the regions.

“I acknowledge the passion and the efforts of our volunteer Regional Councils, their Executive Officers and support staff and, of course, the members at large.

“I wish to see our membership increase, our corporate support strengthen and our industry profile bolder and more articulate, and our opinion valued.

“The power of our organisation as (a) peak industry body is measured most accurately by the passion and participation of our membership. This is gauged by the number and quality of member and industry activities, be they professional development, networking and sharing, or product and program delivery.”
