Parks and Leisure Australia conference opens on the Gold Coast
With the theme ‘Open for Business’, the Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA) annual conference has opened on the Gold Coast.
The three-day event will enable delegates to learn from over 45 presentations from industry professionals through case studies, masterclasses, workshops and technical tours culminating in the PLA’s Awards of Excellence Gala Dinner.
Presentations, which will include studies on the 2018 Commonwealth Games, will allow delegates to learn from world class examples of brilliance in design, planning and delivery while the conference also allows opportunities to network with industry peers at dedicated breaks in resort setting
Being held at RACV Royal Pines Resort from 22nd to 25th October, the conference is aimed at managers in recreation and open space planning; parks, gardens and horticulture; asset management; and national parks,
The evening of Tuesday 24th October will also see the presentation of the PLA’s annual member awards in the following categories:
• Best Use of Technology
• Leisure and/or Open Space Planning Award
• Community Program of the Year
• Playspace Award (more than $500,000)
• Playspace Award (less than $500,000)
• Park of the Year
• Event of the Year
• Research Project of the Year
• David Aldous Student of the Year
• Emerging Leader of the Year
• Frank Stewart Distinguished Service Award
