Parkes Elvis Festival returns to boost economy for regional NSW
Set to return from 8th to 12th January 2020, Parkes Elvis Festival has become a cultural touchstone of regional NSW and an essential driving force of the local economy during drought.
More important than ever before, the Festival is inviting wider Australia to celebrate and support Parkes and surrounding communities in the face of adversity.
The festival is both a joyous tribute to the King of Rock‘n’Roll and a chance to celebrate the resilient spirit of drought ravaged regional communities.
Looking foreard to the event, Parkes Shire Mayor Ken Keith advised "during this dry time, our region continues to be supported by the tourism sector. By simply spending a few dollars while in town, visitors can make a tangible and lasting impact on our community and have a fabulous time in the process.”
The Festival attracts 27,000 visitors to enjoy more than 200 events across five action-packed days and generates more than $13 million in revenue. It remains a pivotal contributor to boosting the economy of Parkes and surrounding townships.
Offering 80% free entertainment, the Festival also provides a space where locals can come together and share their pride in community with visitors.
Festival Director Cathy Treasure added "we are delighted to invite Australian’s from all walks of life to come to Parkes Elvis Festival. This is an opportunity for visitors to show support for drought stricken townships and for locals to celebrate their home, showing attendees our fighting spirit and have a good time against all odds.”
