Outdoors WA encourage Western Australians to get active outside during October

Outdoors WA - the peak body for outdoor activities in Western Australia – has organised the month long event ‘Outdoors October’ which celebrates outdoor active recreation and aims to encourage Western Australians to start planning their own outdoor adventures.

With outdoor recreation, nature-based tourism, and adventure recreation making a huge contribution to health and wellness, Outdoors October offers a number of free, family-friendly, and beginner level events across the State.

Outdoors October will culminate with the WA Outdoor Recreation Sector Awards to be held on Friday 28th October 2022.

WA Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman notes "this October is the perfect time to make the most of the beautiful outdoor trails we are lucky enough to have in the Perth and Peel regions.

"There is a growing body of evidence that shows that 'nature's green gym' provides benefits that outweigh those provided by exercising indoors.

"Spring is the perfect time to get outside in WA. The weather is improving and it's a quieter period between the winter and summer sport seasons.

"Whether you retreat to one of WA's many national parks for a bushwalk and picnic with the family, organise a day out with your mates on one of our world class mountain bike trails or take the dog to the local park, WA has something for everyone to get active outdoors."
