Operation of Barellan Memorial Pool Complex awarded to B Doyle & FJ Doyle
Narrandera Shire Council has resolved the tender process for the Lease for Management of the Barellan Memorial Pool Complex, accepting the tender offer by B Doyle & FJ Doyle, a well known management company in the region.
The lease agreement, spanning a period of five years has the option to extend for an additional five years.
The Barellan Swimming Pool was opened on 6th February 1965 and has been operated by Heather and Emil White for the past 45 years.
Narrandera Shire Council, situated in the Riverina region of south-western NSW, says it "is confident that the decision to award the lease to B Doyle & FJ Doyle will result in a well-managed and successful operation of the Barellan Memorial Pool Complex.
"Council is excited about the partnership and looks forward to working closely with the management company to enhance the pool's accessibility and services, benefitting the local community.
“B Doyle & FJ Doyle demonstrated strong potential in the areas of benefit to the local community and value-added benefits. The company's principal partner holds a business management degree and has provided references validating the requisite management skills needed to effectively run the facility.
“Additionally, the principal partner has completed pool lifeguard and first aid certifications, emphasising their commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for pool visitors.”
The pool opens at the end of October and closes at the end of March each year and features

A well stocked kiosk serving espresso coffee, hot food, snacks and drinks
Swim accessory sales including goggles and swim nappies
Free BBQ facilities available
Large shady picnic areas
To accommodate the increase in the budget for the first year of the contract, Council has authorised the utilisation of surplus funds from the 2022-23 budget. This allocation ensures that the Barellan Memorial Pool Complex receives the necessary resources for a seamless transition and an improved experience for pool-goers.
