Ocean Lifestyles website launched

Just in time for the Australian summer OceanFit has launched a new fun, interactive and educational beach-orientated website.

The bright and easy to navigate free website focuses on ocean awareness, confidence and fitness, including the popular summer sport of ocean swimming. It is targeted at children and adults.

Visitors can enjoy learning through a range of 'How To' videos and Pro Blogs, and there is also an ocean events calendar and practical programs available.

OceanFit founder Andre Slade said it's all about providing opportunities for people who love the beach to learn more and make it a bigger part of their lifestyle.

Slade explains "the beach is Australia's favourite playground in summer and there's so many ways to enjoy it, and just as importantly to enjoy it safely.

"For some people the beach has been a part of their life from a young age, but for others the beach is a special place they visit maybe once or twice a year.

"This website is all about giving the regulars tips to improve their ocean experiences, and for the irregulars, it's a place they can learn all about beach culture and how to stay safe and become more confident."

The 'How To' videos cover topics like how to put on a swim cap, be a beached whale, make a sand angel, bodysurf, dive under waves and ocean swimming tips such as how to wade, dolphin dive and sight ï¾ with many more to come.

It even advises how to get changed under your towel in public!

A number of ocean experts, including Bondi Rescue's Dean 'Deano' Gladstone, Rob 'Dr Rip' Brander and Professional surf Ironman Tom Atkinson provide Pro Blogs covering a range of ocean-related topics from the point of view of a Lifeguard, Scientist and Ironman among many more.

Keen ocean swimmers can also keep up to date with the latest ocean-based events and there's practical programs to get involved in as well for all ages and abilities.

Slade hopes the website can become a portal for people looking to make the ocean a bigger part of their lives and to get the most enjoyment out of it when they are there ï¾ whether they're visiting daily, monthly or yearly.

He adds "the idea is to continually update the site with awesome content that people can learn from and enjoy.

"It's not about always telling people to be safe, we hear that all the time and it's important, but this website is about giving people helpful and practical advice on how they can become more confident so they can actually enjoy it more and to really enhance their ocean lifestyles.

"We're going to have fun with it, because the beach should be about having as much fun as possible ï¾ watch this space there's some really cool videos coming up this summer."

Subscribers to the free OceanFit email receive weekly emails full of helpful advice and tips about the beach.

OceanFit is also looking for corporate sponsorship to build more free content. Those interested should get in touch with Andre to discuss opportunities.
