NZRA Conference Connects
The New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA) is to hold its 2010 conference in Wellington from 18th to 20th October.
Based at Victoria Universityâs Rutherford House on the Pipitea Campus the conference theme is 'Connect' and it presents opportunities for delegates to connect policy and practice, politics and programmes, and with colleagues.
In keeping with the Wellington location, the Connect programme includes national politicians and policy makers, captures the latest from researchers and thought leaders, and showcases creative ways of connecting the dots and creating synergies between partner agencies that work within our communities.
Professionals from political, environmental, social, cultural and economic spheres will highlight the often invisible connections with recreation.
The conference combines a two-day business programme followed by one day of (optional) workshops and field trips.
Topics included in the programme are:
⢠The value of recreation and its contribution to genuine progress in our communities
⢠Future trends in service delivery in open spaces, libraries and fitness
⢠The role of recreation and social development
⢠Tourism and its contribution to recreation
⢠Reinventing the wheel â the future of cycling
