North Sydney Oval secures new five-year cricket deal
North Sydney Council, in partnership with Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW, has announced a new five-year venue hire agreement for North Sydney Oval. As part of the announcement, details were revealed about upcoming Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) fixtures, with the Sydney Sixers Women set to return to the Oval for key matches in the 2025–26 season. These fixtures continue the Oval's tradition of hosting top-tier women's cricket and providing a platform for the sport's leading athletes.
In the announcement, North Sydney Council notes “this landmark agreement further cements North Sydney Oval's reputation as one of Australia's premier venues for elite men's and women's cricket and reflects a shared commitment to fostering high-quality sporting experiences in the heart of the city.”
Mayor of North Sydney, Zoë Baker, welcomed the partnership and added "this new agreement with Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW reinforces North Sydney Oval's status as one of Australia's premier cricket venues. We're proud to continue hosting elite-level matches that inspire our community and showcase the best of the sport.
"North Sydney Oval has long been a champion of women's sport, and the upcoming WBBL fixtures are a powerful reflection of that legacy. We're proud to support a competition that promotes equality, excellence, and opportunity for women in cricket.”
