New Zealand seminar on developing world-class facilities

In February, Sport NZ, backed by the New Zealand Recreation Association, will host a seminar at which industry professionals can learn from world class facilities experts about the latest facility development and management trends in England, Australia and New Zealand.

To be presented in a workshop format, the Developing World-Class Facilities Seminar 2014, is aimed at councils, regional sport trust, national sport organisation and others involved in facility strategy, planning or development.

Speakers will include:

• Charles Johnston, Director of Property, Sport England who oversees Sport England's facility investment and planning team, and with an annual budget of over NZ$400 million

• Phil Saikaly, General Manager of Community Facilities, Sport and Recreation Victoria who will provide a summary of their environment and the challenges they face.

• Richard Lindsay, National Advisor Facilities, Sport NZ - presenting the work Sport NZ has undertaken to develop a National Facilities Strategy, and the future implementation of that strategy.

A statement from Sport NZ introducing the event explains "this will be a fabulous chance to listen to the contrasting different perspectives of England, Australia and New Zealand, from the comfort of our very own capital city.

"(It will include) will be plenty of time for networking, debate and discussion."

The Seminar is being held on Wednesday 12th February at the ASB Sports Centre in Kilbirnie, Wellington.
