New synthetic facility opens in Penrith’s Jamison Park to cater for increased demand

Penrith’s Jamison Park’s new $4 million multi-use synthetic facility is complete and open for use with the synthetic surface covering an area of 22,000 square metres and accommodating two FIFA standard rectangular football fields, a cricket pitch and an AFL oval. The new facility has the potential to double the weekly capacity of the previous fields which will support the City’s increased demand for sports and recreation opportunities.

A new pathway and smart technology LED floodlights were also installed as part of the upgrade. Further improvements will be delivered to Jamison Park in the new year in the form of spectator seating and landscaping to complement the facility.

The project forms part of Penrith Council’s Sport and Recreation Strategy and was funded by the NSW Government through the Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund in association with Penrith City Council and the Nepean Football Association.

Penrith City Council's spokesperson, Karen McKeown notes “Penrith sports clubs are expecting growth in member numbers into the future, so it is vital we provide the infrastructure to support these increasing participation rates.

“Sporting groups, schools and the wider community now have access to a high-quality facility which can be used year-round. Council would like to thank the NSW Government for its continued support on this project and the Nepean Football Association for its contribution and commitment.”

McKeown said these upgrades are another example of Council delivering on its commitment to give the community opportunities to enjoy an active lifestyle and create one of the state’s most liveable cities.
