New Sydney campus for Macleay College

A new campus for Macleay College, offering state of the art tertiary education facilities, has been officially opened.

Macleay College offers practical, hands-on, accelerated learning courses taught by industry experts that help fast-track students into jobs in the business, media, advertising and leisure.

The new $2 million campus, in the heart of Sydney's CBD, features extensive television and radio recording facilities, and new computer labs.

The facility was opened by NSW Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner and media industry leader and former News Ltd Chief Executive John Hartigan.

Despite recent proposed print downsizing announcements by Fairfax and News Limited, Hartigan presented an optimistic view of the future of journalism, one of Macleay College's most popular courses, stating "vocational courses have never been more desired," said John Hartigan. "Macleay College represents a virtual boot-camp covering the amount of information a media entrepreneur needs in today's market.

"This campus is unlike any learning institution I have seen. It is not only modern, it is producing students who are gaining real jobs after graduation."

Macleay College Dean, Dr Raffaele Marcellino said the opening of this campus was a significant occasion in the College's 18-year history offering a new benchmark in tertiary education in Sydney.

Dr Marcellino stated "Macleay College boasts a strong employment rate for our graduates, with the practical aspect of our courses appealing to school leavers and pre-professionals.

"Students are taught by senior industry professionals and take part in a formalised internship program during their time at this College."

A new Macleay College Alumni Program has also been launched. SBS Dateline Presenter, Yalda Hakim, digital entrepreneur Jye Smith, (voted by B&T magazine as one of Australia's top 30 people to watch under the age of 30) and Ivan Bresic, cofounder of the hugely successful Bresic Whitney Real Estate Agency were all presented with inaugural Awards of Excellence celebrating their professional achievements since graduating from Macleay College.

Other high-profile alumni of Macleay College include Channel 9 presenter Catriona Rowntree; Drive My Car Rentals Managing Director Daniel Noble; and Liberal Party media adviser, Brad Burden.

The new Macleay College is the most modern tertiary campus in Sydney. Courses range from journalism and business management to real estate, advertising, accounting, public relations, event management, hospitality, travel and tourism, and real estate.
