New online booking system improves Northern Territory camping experience

A new online booking system in operation from today, provides Northern Territory campers and multi-day trail walkers with access to important information including which parks are open, park visitor numbers, park and campsite profiles and the availability of amenities and services.

The online booking system’s suite of improvements to the Territory camping experience, provides greater planning options along with other benefits including the certainty of booking an available camping spot, being able to share safety information with visitors and enhanced monitoring of parks and park services, which in turn provides for business efficiencies.

Parks and Wildlife Rangers will also be available to assist visitors to ensure a booking is secured prior to camping. Parks and Wildlife will also extend free Wi-Fi services for 12 months in Wangi, Karlu Karlu and Watarrka.

Anyone already on a remote park on 1st March will not be required to leave the park to book.

Northern Territory  Minister for Parks and Rangers Selena Uibo advises “Camping trips are a quintessential Territory pastime and we are working to ensure visitors have every tool available to plan the best possible adventure.

“This new booking system will modernise the camping experience and ensure visitors have certainty when it comes to securing a camping spot.

“Our hard-working Parks rangers have prepared for the introduction of this new system and will adopt an educative approach as Territory campers adjust to the transition.”
