New management, business as usual for Chamberlain Park Golf Course
Management of Chamberlain Park Golf Course will change next month but golfers will see no change in service at the popular Auckland course.
Auckland Regional Council's lease with Auckland City Golf Course Limited for the operation of Chamberlain Park Golf Course ends on 30th June 2013 with the Council-owned City Parks Services to take over management from 1st July.
Auckland Council Recreation Partnerships, Funding and Programmes Manager Sharon Rimmer explains "Auckland City Golf Course Limited has operated Chamberlain Park Golf Course since 1996 and has provided Auckland golfers with excellent service at one of the regions most popular courses.
"Continuity of service is extremely important to the Auckland Council and we will keep members and golf course users informed of any changes."
All current season passes and concession cards will be honoured and golfers should not be affected by the change in management. Green fees will remain the same.
Albert-Eden Local Board Deputy Chair Margi Watson says the future of Chamberlain Park as a golf course is secure, adding "Albert Eden Local Board is aware how special this golf course is to locals and players from across Auckland. We see providing outstanding and accessible sporting and recreational opportunities for Aucklanders as one of our highest priorities.
"Recent rumours about turning the golf course into housing are simply untrue. We would like to reassure golfers and locals that this course will continue to operate as a popular public course."
Rimmer says City Parks Services has staff experienced in managing golf courses and looks forward to working with the staff at Chamberlain Park, maintaining the course's popular reputation.
