New Holsworthy Army Base installs On-Site Chlorine Generation System for indoor pool
The world’s most advanced on-site bulk liquid chlorine generator, the Wallace & Tiernan OSEC-NXT, has been installed in the indoor training pool at the new MUR Holsworthy Army Base in Western Sydney.
The 4ML indoor Commando training pool was built by Crystal Pools with the water treatment plant, chemical control, dosing and UV installed by Trisley Hydraulic Services.
Key features of the OSEC-NXT on-site chlorine generation system are:
• World’s most advanced membrane type chlorine generator (OSEC-NXT uses 4th generation membrane technology from Wallace & Tiernan Germany)
• Lowest salt consumption of any unit (just 1.7 kilograms of salt per 1 kilograms of neat available Chlorine produced) – the closest rival system uses 30% more salt
• Electrical consumption is the lowest per kg of neat available Chlorine produced
• Automatically produces constant & consistent 2.5% strength hypochlorite solution (strongest & most consistent of any unit) giving maximum storage life and consistent dosing accuracy
• High solution strength and low salt consumption mean that minimal salt is dosed into the pool, giving the equivalent water quality of a chlorine gas pool. Chlorides are reduced so that stainless steel corrosion risk to plant is minimised
• OSEC-Salin salt tablets are easier and more pleasant to handle than granular salt and pricing is similar for the locally supplied versions. All salt is used up during the process, so there are no waste products
• Cooling water can be used as already warmed pool makeup water into the balance tank(s), saving on energy, heating costs and water for the Aquatic Centre
• Siemens touch screen control and communications are standard for easy automatic operation, with level sensor control in the solution tank.
• On site service support is provided by Evoqua Wallace & Tiernan technicians in Australia, who have been trained at the factory in Germany. Remote diagnostic support can be provided via the Siemens communications module, which comes as standard.
Commenting on the installation, Wallace & Tiernan aquatic distributor, Tim Batt explains “the OSEC-NXT is a truly state-of-the-art system, with more units expected to be installed this year in Australia.”
