New conference centre an addition to attractions at Wero Whitewater Park
A contemporary conference centre being built alongside the Wero Whitewater Park in Auckland promises corporate clients a work hard: play hard venue and a unique recreational experience.
Scheduled to be flowing with thrills as of April 2016, New Zealand’s newest adventure hub will make white water experiences accessible for Aucklanders and visitors.
The man-made white water park complements Vodafone Events Centre that has been home to tradeshows, the arts and education for more than a decade.
A new conference centre due to open by February 2016 provides greater event and conference flexibility, and guests can opt to use the white water park.
Wero Whitewater Park Chief Executive Richard Jeffery of the venue has been the development of a social enterprise model that invests the corporate dollar back into the development of Auckland’s young people.
Explaining how the white water park will provide outdoor education challenges to business teams as well as local school children, Jeffery stated “if we can get a kid or a conference delegate over a 4.5 metre waterfall, they will believe they can do anything.
“Conferences at Vodafone Events Centre or in the new centre will help fund our successful school and community programme that gives students authentic arts and outdoor education experiences.”
While corporates and their guests can enjoy hospitality provided by the event partners, they can also enjoy the feel good factor – knowing they are helping people set goals and achieve.
The conference centre at the Wero Whitewater Park will offer full functionality with movable walls that provide a number of configurations for break out breakout spaces.
Each space has good natural light as well as indoor/outdoor flow plus black out drapes when projection is required.
Being on ground level, the new venue complements the total facility to the adjacent arena and theatre.
The venue has also announced that former sprint kayaker Ian Ferguson has been appointed General Manager of Wero Whitewater Park.
Ferguson was a multiple award winner in international K1, K2 and K4 kayak events in the 1980s.
