New Brighton hot pools closing to repair leaking pipe

Christchurch City Council advises that He Puna Taimona, the popular hot pools facility in New Brighton, is closing for a week in June for some unscheduled repair work.

The Christchurch City Council facility, which offers five heated saltwater pools, a sauna, steam room and a plunge pool, will close its doors from Monday 17th to Sunday 23rd June. The closure will allow contractors to inspect and fix a suspected leaking pipe underneath the pools.

The Council expects to reopen He Puna Taimoana on Monday 24th June 2024.

He Puna Taimoana Manager, Merryn Skipper thanked visitors for their patience while the work is carried out, commenting "unfortunately, the closure is unavoidable, but it will ensure He Puna Taimoana continues to operate well.

“It’s a well-used facility, and we need to keep it running efficiently and safely for customers to enjoy. The whole team is looking forward to welcoming people back straight away.”

Bookings will be available for the reopening date onwards by the start of June 2024.
