New amenities facilities at Shellharbour’s Albion Oval to enhance experience of all users
The new amenities facilities at Shellharbour's Albion Oval, Albion Park Rail, was officially opened on 1st June with the amenities building featuring diverse male and female change rooms, a canteen, dedicated storage rooms for sports equipment, a referees' room, a first aid room, and public toilets.
The renewal project replaces the previous amenities building with modern, functional facilities designed to support the diverse needs of Shellharbour City's sports community and ensure a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment for all users.
Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer officially opened the new amenities building along with Dr Sarah Kaine MLC, Member for Kiama Gareth Ward and local sporting club representatives.
Shellharbour City Council contributed $1.85 million to the project while the NSW State Government's Regional Sports Facilities Fund gave $750,000.
Mayor Homer said the upgrades would provide diverse benefits to local sporting communities and added "this new infrastructure will enable increased participation in organised sport and community activities in Shellharbour City.
"The building has been thoughtfully designed to enhance the experience of all users and aims to serve as a central hub for activities and events.
"I thank Council staff for securing the funding and for their commitment to providing high-quality and accessible sporting facilities.”
The Mayor also expressed his appreciation to the NSW State Government for its support in funding the project.
