Networking Events at Asian Attractions Expo 2010

More than 3,000 attractions industry professionals are set to gather at the Asian Attractions Expo (AAE) 2010.

To be held between 13th and 16th July in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the event will enable delegates to connect with and learn from colleagues about the latest trends, products, and services. The Expo, which is produced by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), will provide several opportunities for attractions operators, government officials, and manufacturers and suppliers to network under one roof at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and other, less formal venues, such as area restaurants and attractions.

“As the attractions industry in Asia continues to grow, Asian Attractions Expo becomes even more important as a valuable networking event,” said Charles Bray, President and Chief Executive of IAAPA. “The show is a great place for members to connect with key players in the industry, see what advancements are being made in the global market, and look for ways to drive their business.”

Networking events planned for AAE 2010 will include:

Wednesday 14th July

• The Opening Reception will be the celebratory kick-off to the week where attendees can connect with peers. Supported by Silver Sponsor Arihant Industrial Corporation, the event takes place at Aquaria, a 5,500 metre2 underground aquarium located within the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Participants will have the opportunity to tour the world-class, next-generation commercial aquarium, while enjoying local cuisine and drinks. The event is free for Expo participants.

• Later Wednesday evening, the Young Professional’s Reception at 7atenine restaurant will provide an environment for up-and-coming industry leaders to share their experiences and meet key industry leaders within IAAPA and the Asian region. The event is free for Expo participants.

Thursday 15th July

• On Thursday evening, Expo participants are invited to experience Sunway Lagoon like never before. Guests will enjoy a tropical-themed dinner and reception at the waterpark with entertainment and dancing on the beach. The 88-acre facility is comprised of the Wild West-themed park; Extreme Park with all-terrain vehicles and paintball games; the Waters of Africa waterpark; Wildlife Park, which features exotic animals; and Scream Park, which includes scare shows and a 3D ‘Terror Tunnel.’

Friday 16th July

• To wrap up the Expo week, IAAPA will host two post-show visits to Genting Highlands Resort, 45 minutes from Kuala Lumpur, where attendees can gain exclusive insight into the components of the park through a tour of the facility, dinner, and resort accommodations. The resort consists of the First World Indoor Theme Park and a waterpark with a heated splash pool. Its signature attractions include Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum, the ‘Flying Coaster’ hang-gliding ride, ‘X-Pedition’ climbing wall, and Snow World, an indoor manmade snow house.

Since 1997, Asian Attractions Expo has been the premier event for the multibillion-dollar leisure and attractions industry in Asia. Organizers anticipate more than 3,000 professionals from amusement and theme parks, waterparks, zoos, aquariums, museums, family entertainment centers, casinos, and resorts will participate in the annual event to develop and purchase new attractions and products for their facilities, see what’s new in the industry, learn best practices, and network with colleagues.

During the event, more than 150 exhibitors from 25 countries will come to Kuala Lumpur to showcase innovative products in more than 100 categories, including amusement and theme park rides; architectural and design services; coin-operated games, skill games, and redemption prizes; theatrical productions; and maintenance services and equipment. AAE is co-hosted by the Malaysian Association of Amusement Themepark & Family Attractions (MAATFA) and the Australian Amusement Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA).
