National Volleyball Championships to be held in Perth annually from 2025-2027

With mass participation events forming an important part of the Western Australian Government's overarching tourism strategy to attract visitors and generate millions for the economy, the WA Government has secured a three-year deal for the National Volleyball Championships, the latest mass-participation competition added to the state’s events calendar.

The first event is scheduled to take place at Arena Joondalup in September 2025 and is anticipated to attract thousands of participants and spectators to Perth each year.

Hosted by Volleyball Australia, the championships are made up of four events which take place over 10 days:

  • the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships, which brings together the nation's most talented young athletes across age brackets from under 14 to under 18;

  • the Australian Club Volleyball Championships, where top clubs from across Australia compete in a three-day tournament-style competition;

  • the Junior Development Camp, providing young players the opportunity to be trained by some of Australia's best coaches over a three-day training camp; and

  • a Men's and Women's round of the Australian Volleyball Super League, the most prestigious and highest-level national volleyball competition.

The semi-finals and finals will be broadcast live, offering even more exposure for Perth.

The championships have been held in Bendigo, Victoria for the past three years, with the 2023 event attracting over 3,000 participants and spectators.
