Narrogin YMCA Manager looks to offer improved service

Narrogin’s YMCA Leisure Centre is set for exciting changes, following suggestions made by the public at last year’s forum.

A recent YMCA Have Your Say Night at the facility included a presentation from Narrogin Regional Leisure Centre Manager Tia Sandhu, who revealed the Centre’s progress with public concerns expressed at a community meeting last year.

These included the need for roof replacement or repair, better pool temperature regulation and more thorough cleaning of the centre.

As reported by the Narrogin Observer, Sandhu said in response, the Centre underwent major roof replacements earlier this year, a new cleaner had been hired and a building maintenance system is to be installed to maintain pool temperature.

Other changes to be introduced in the next year include free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning installation at the John Higgins Centre and a proposed fitness and wellbeing program for young people.

Sandhu said she was looking forward to creating more teenage and child-orientated activities at the centre, including the development of the Youth Engagement Strategy within the Shire of Narrogin, following the Youth Survey results.
