Naming rights sponsor revealed for Canberra Stadium
The Canberra Stadium, home of the Canberra Raiders and ACT Brumbies, will be known as GIO Stadium Canberra as of 1st January 2014.
The ACT Government and GIO Insurance have entered a commercial arrangement for four years, with the option to extend for another four.
This is the first time the stadium has had a commercial sponsor with GIO meeting the ACT Government's objectives in finding a naming-rights sponsor aligned with the corporate values of the ACT Government and Canberra Stadium.
The sponsorship arrangement will assist in maintenance and upgrades of the Stadium.
Separately to the sponsorship arrangement, the Stadium turf is currently being re-laid to ensure the surface is a world-class standard for season 2014 and matches in the AFC Asian Cup football tournament in 2015.
More than 300,000 people attended sporting events at Canberra Stadium during 2013.
