Museum Calls On Aucklanders To Help Guide Future

Auckland Museum is seeking public input to help guide its Gallery Renewal Plan at a public forum on Tuesday 24th August.
The Gallery Renewal Plan is one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken by the Museum as it sets the framework for the types of galleries the Museum will house, ultimately determining the stories it tells and the objects it displays.
Interim Director, Sir Don McKinnon said, âthe process for establishing a Gallery Renewal Plan commenced nearly two years ago and we have held several consultations with Museum employees, volunteers and stakeholders who have provided diverse recommendations. We now want to hear from Aucklanders, as this is their Museum.?
The evening, called âYour Museumâ will be hosted by Waitakere Mayor Bob Harvey in the Museumâs magnificent Maori Court. Attendees will be presented with various museum models from around the world, and cultural and museological experts will share their perspectives. Following the presentation, guests will have an opportunity ask questions and discuss their ideas with fellow Aucklanders over light refreshments. After the event, guests will be invited to submit their feedback on the Museumâs website.
Bookings to this event are essential, as seating is limited.
