Multi-Use pavilion completed at Doncaster Aquarena

Construction of the Doncaster Aquarena aquatic and recreation centre's new outdoor multi-use pavilion is now complete and centre users can now enjoy a range of new programs in modern, spacious, state of the art facilities.

The first floor of the two-storey building, located at the southern end of the site, will provide an exciting huge new precision cycling room with over 50 brand new Keiser M3 spin bikes and a separate new outdoor change village for users of the 50 metre outdoor heated pool.

The second floor includes a large group exercise area, meeting and administration rooms and outdoor balcony viewing area overlooking the outdoor pool and surrounds.

Managed by the Manningham YMCA, the facility is now able to meet the growing needs of local residents, with the increasing number of exercise classes designed specifically for older adults and people with disabilities while aquatic facilities will meet the needs of the local swimming club.

The project also included the construction of the Aquarena's second waterslide, the 70 attraction starting high up on the seven-metre launch tower perched high on the hill at the rear of the facility.

Further stages of the Aquarena development project include the construction of a co-generation plant and extensive expansion to the front of the current building.

These stages will include an additional warm water exercise pool, remodelled entrance, reception and administration areas, members lounge, allied health offices, expanded health club and a sky bridge from the car parks to increase accessibility options for all members of the community.
