Monster machine to prepare ANZ Stadium playing surface

A 16-tonne wicket mover will help prepare the playing surface at Sydney's ANZ Stadium next week in preparation for the upcoming football season.
The monster vehicle, the only one of its kind in Australia, will work across three days relocating four drop-in wickets from the centre of the arena to the boundary.
Each wicket â measuring in at 42 tonnes and 25 metres â is transported in one slab on the machineâs low-riding tray.
The process allows the wicket to be prepared and maintained without disruption during the football season.
The same wicket mover is used by the MCG and travels between Sydney and Melbourne by truck.
ANZ Stadium will make its 2011 rectangular debut on Sunday 13th February for the annual Charity Shield clash between the St George Illawarra Dragons and South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Tickets are available through Ticketek on or call 132 849.
