Australian animatronics expertise on display to the world

After a highly successful two year museum tour in Australia and New Zealand, 'Monsters! the art and technology of animatronics' has staged it's USA Tour premier at the St Louis Science Centre.

Created by Gold Coast-based Visual Effects Academy Award winner John Cox and his company John Cox's Creature Workshop, the exhibition gives a 'behind the scenes' look at the skills and process used to bring monsters and creatures from the written page to the silver screen.

Visitors can direct a dinosaur, manouver a mermaid tail, touch the guts of the Pitch Black aliens, get to check out some of Inspector Gadgets gadgets, see the build and performance process for the Gorillas from George of the Jungle 2, see inside an animatronic Polar Bear head, and create their own monster.

John Cox’s Creature Workshop is a purpose built 1100 metre² studio with a laser scanner, 3D computer modelling, 5 axis router and internet facilities that allow all clients to view work in progress.
