Monarto Safari Park disinfects Zu-loop buses with MicroSafe's Nanocyn

Zoos SA staff at Monarto Safari Park are using misting machines filled with Nanocyn inside their buses to disinfect the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. Monarto Safari Park has partnered with SA-based MicroSafe to introduce Nanocyn disinfectant on all Zu-loop buses throughout the park.

The product uses 100% natural ingredients and is safe to use around humans and animals, including reptiles and primates. The handheld misting device can disinfect a bus quickly and safely after each tour.

As Zoos SA drivers were reminded of a scene out of Ghostbusters, they have fondly labelled the handheld misting device the - ‘Ghostbuster’ machine.

Taking less than five minutes, the Nanocyn kills and eliminates the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 in 15 seconds, the fastest contact time of any product globally.

The disinfectant also kills Norovirus (Gastro), Influenza (H1N1), bacteria, mould and fungi in 30 seconds.

General Manager of Visitor Operations, Steve Callery, advised that the health and wellbeing of the visitors and animals was Zoos SA’s top priority and noted “with this technology we are able to quickly and incredibly effectively disinfect each bus after every tour.

“This ensures the wellbeing of all visitors and reassures them that they can enjoy safe and happy a trip to Monarto Safari Park these holidays.

“The team from MicroSafe have very kindly donated the machines and disinfectant products to Zoos SA free of charge. As a conservation charity, we are so thankful for their generosity and help to keep our community safe.”

MicroSafe Care Australia Managing Director, Matt Seifert, said the Nanocyn product is completely natural, which makes it safe to use around people and animals and therefore ideal for a zoo setting.

Seifert advised “MicroSafe partnered with Monarto Safari Park to assist them with their COVID Management Plan, particularly around the buses. Our technology can disinfect the buses extremely rapidly with the Nanocyn, which means we can provide safer environment for visitors and staff alike.”

Driver Scott Kelly said the Nanocyn made it easy to clean the bus with speed and ensure his guests were safe – all while having a little bit of fun.

Kelly shared “It definitely feels powerful in my hands, I feel like a real ghostbuster! While we do have a bit of fun, on the serious side, it is so great to be able to quickly disinfect the bus.

“It helps us run on time and continue to provide a great and safe service for all our wonderful members and visitors.”

MicroSafe, works with key transport providers and facility management companies in Australia and overseas, providing infection control solutions since long before the pandemic, dating back to 2005.

The TGA approved and registered technology is also used by the Royal Flying Doctor Service and South Australian Police in all stations.

To celebrate the school holidays and the launch of the Nanocyn technology at Monarto Safari Park, ZoosSA have a double pass to giveaway to see the new movie, Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Valid for participating cinemas, the pass will go to the first visitor to ask the front desk team “who you gonna call?” at the Monarto Safari Park Visitor Centre.

Visitors aged 16 and older who choose to come to Adelaide Zoo or Monarto Safari Park will be required to show evidence that they have been fully-vaccinated (or are exempt from vaccination by order of the Chief Public Health Officer). For more information please visit, www.zoossa.com.au/covid-19/.
