Mirboo North Pool Contract Awarded

South Gippsland Shire Council has this week awarded the contract for the Mirboo North Pool Redevelopment to Langden Constructions Pty Ltd.

Agreed at the Council’s meeting yesterday, a total of $5,732,570 has been allocated for the project which was supported by a $190,000 Victorian Government contribution, $600,000 Federal Government contribution, $1 million contribution from local community fundraising and the remainder a significant Council contribution.

The project scope includes:

• Demolition of existing buildings including amenities, first aid, kiosk, storage and plantroom.
• Construction of new building to current standards including dry programs space, family and fully accessible change facilities.
• Demolition of toddlers’ pool and learn-to-swim pool.
• Construction of new learn-to-swim pool with ramp access and splash park.
• Construction of new 25 metre pool including new ramp access and wet deck style surrounds.
• New plantroom, equipment, pipework and balance tank.
• Accessible paths of travel from car park to pool deck.

South Gippsland Shire Administrator Julie Eisenbise on announcing the award of contract advised that “this is a wonderful project for the Mirboo North community, the dedication of the Friends of the Mirboo North Pool and community commitment to the project has been adamant. To raise such a large amount of funds to get behind the project with is truly remarkable.

“The project not only supports Mirboo North but provides a facility which will be enjoyed by many in South Gippsland and by our visitors. I look forward to seeing the project progress and I understand site preparation works will commence quickly.”
