Malvern precinct activated with free outdoor ice skating

The City of Stonnington’s Malvern precinct is being reimagined with free outdoor ice skating in support of local business.

For 30 minutes of free skating, participants are required to show a receipt from a purchase at a Glenferrie Road, Malvern business or donate to the Stonnington Toy Library. There will also be entertainment, giveaways, and vouchers from across the Glenferrie Road, Malvern precinct.

Ice skates are available to hire for free, and skating is on first in, first served basis – no bookings. Participants need to be at least 100cm tall.

Jami Klisaris, Mayor of the City of Stonnington, is delighted to see Stonnington’s precincts reimagined in different ways and notes “In recent years we’ve seen our streets completely reimagined, we’ve had robot monsters along Chapel Street, street basketball in Armadale, road closures to enable roadside dining and now – ice skating in Malvern.

“The Glenferrie Road Malvern Business Association have done an incredible job in partnership with the City of Stonnington to plan Malvern On Ice, and I encourage everyone to head down there, support their local businesses and check it out. Thank you also to the support of the Victorian Government for helping to make this happen.”

Kate Perlstein, President of the Glenferrie Road Malvern Business Association is excited about bringing Malvern On Ice to Glenferrie Road and adds “The Glenferrie Road Malvern Business Association is incredibly excited to be able to install an ice-skating rink in our precinct. This fun, family winter activity will be a unique addition to Malvern for four days.

“Thanks to support from the State Government and the City of Stonnington, we’ll be creating a winter wonderland so you can shop, dine and ice-skate in Malvern.”
