LiVS charitable trust searches for new users of Christchurch's Roy Stokes Hall

Life in Vacant Spaces is searching for additional users of Roy Stokes Hall in New Brighton - a coastal suburb of Christchurch - so it can become a thriving community asset.

Life in Vacant Spaces (LiVS) is a charitable trust that brokers spaces for community groups, creative projects, social enterprises and start-ups. They connect owners of vacant land and buildings with people who have big ideas to fill those spaces.

The Roy Stokes Hall was once part of Central New Brighton School.

Toi Collective Art Studio and Gallery and The Christchurch Circus Trust currently use the hall on a regular basis, but Life in Vacant Spaces is keen to get other groups using the hall.

“The Roy Stokes Community Hall was built by the people of New Brighton and is there for the community to use, so we want to hear from them,” says Elisha Blogg, a New Brighton resident who is the director of LiVS.

Blogg added "We want you to tell your friends about this amazing space and ask them to spread the word.”

The Roy Stokes Hall can hold up to 360 people in the main space. There is also meeting room space available for hire at affordable rates.
