Light Garden to illuminate Sydney's Centennial Park

From 18th to 27th January, a spectacular illuminated Light Garden will light up Centennial Park like never before.

This free community event will celebrate a key milestone in life of Australia's most popular public park the 125th Anniversary of Centennial Park.

As Centennial Parklands Director and Chief Executive Kim Ellis explains "the Light Garden will be Centennial Park at its best. As it has been for 125 years, the Park will be the place to gather together with family and friends.

"Centennial Park is one of Sydney's most loved public spaces and the birthplace of modern Australia. With more than six million visits made here each year it remains ' The People's Park' - as it was dubbed in 1888. So we invite everyone to come and extend that holiday feeling with a quintessential Sydney summer activity a picnic in the park."

Run over 10 consecutive nights, the key highlights throughout the 10 day event include:

• Opening Night Lights
• World-premiere of the audio-visual: As Small Birds Play inspired by Centennial Park
• Doggie Night the aim is to attract 125 dogs in one place to celebrate
