KFC renews Cricket Australia extended KFC sponsorship into third decade

Cricket Australia has announced an extension of its partnership with fast food restaurant chain KFC, stretching the sponsorship into its 21st season and third decade.

The three-season extension will will see KFC retain the naming rights of Big Bash League (BBL) while also remaining a partner of the Weber WBBL, gold partner of the Men’s and Women’s International teams and the official restaurant of Cricket Australia and the eight Big Bash Clubs until the end of the 2024/25 summer of cricket.

A partner of the BBL since its inception in 2011, KFC will be recognised as the official restaurant of Cricket Australia and the eight BBL clubs and will continue its popular KFC Bucketheads promotion as a key activation at stadiums.

Commenting on the extension of the partnership, Cricket Australia Chief Executive, Nick Hockley stated “KFC and cricket’s pairing has become a synonymous part of the Australian summer. Together, we will continue to innovate, create brilliant experiences and bring families and friends together, whether that be in a restaurant, at the cricket or at home.

“We thank KFC for their incredible support of our national game.”

Cricket Australia General Manager - Big Bash Leagues, Alistair Dobson added “the Big Bash Leagues wouldn’t be where they are today without the incredible support of KFC, the inaugural Naming Rights partner of our men’s competition.

“Similarly, KFC’s support has been crucial to the growth of the Weber WBBL in recent years. We look forward to celebrating the best of summer and the Big Bash with the KFC over the coming seasons.”

KFC and its rival, McDonalds, have been very active in sponsorship moves over the last five years with both signing highly-visible deals with NRL and AFL clubs as well as its links with football’s A-League.

However, Cricket Australia remains the restaurant chain’s largest investment.
