Kakadu Tourism appoints new sales and marketing manager

Kakadu Tourism has appointed Ruth Watson as its Sales and Marketing Manager, based in the group’s Darwin office.

Watson has a well-established career in customer service roles and has been based in the Northern Territory for the past three years, working for a variety of aviation and tourism businesses, including Airnorth, Adventure Tours Australia and WayOut Back Safaris.

In her new position, Watson will be responsible for Kakadu Crocodile Hotel, Kakadu Cooinda Lodge and Yellow Water Camping, as well as tourism operations such as Yellow Water Cruises and Spirit of Kakadu Adventure Tours.

Watson said that she was very excited about her new role, explaining “as an adopted Territorian, I believe strongly in the role of tourism and its potential for growth.

“No other region in Australia offers such a rich tourism and cultural experience, and I will be working closely with our partners – such as Accor and Tourism Northern Territory – to help grow business to Kakadu and the Top End.

“We have added significantly to the experiences on offer in Kakadu and will be looking to introduce new products and activities over the next year. There has been excellent reaction to the expansion of our Yellow Water Cruises tour options, and with high quality accommodation available at the Crocodile and Cooinda, we believe there is good scope to develop the conference and incentive market on top of our strong leisure market.

"We look forward to welcoming an even greater number of tourists to the region from both overseas and locally, as there is really no other destination like Kakadu on earth, let alone in Australia.”
