Joyce DiMascio named events and meetings 'Industry Person of the Year'
Joyce DiMascio, Chief Executive of the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA), has been named 'Industry Person of the Year' at the 2014 Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME).
Presented at AIME this week, DiMascio's award was one of a series of awards that recognised innovation and creativity in the incentive and meetings sector, with other AIME awards celebrating exhibitors at the event who showed excellence in stand design and presentation on the show floor.
Commenting on DiMascio's award, Reed Travel Exhibitions Director for AIME and CIBTM, Jacqui Timmins, explained that DiMascio was a terrific advocate for the business events industry, whose passion for moving the industry forward makes her a formidable force and one of the sector's most driven leaders.
Timmins stated "Joyce's determination to see the business events industry evolve, and the way in which she works closely with events such as AIME to highlight the vital contribution exhibitions and events make to our sector, means she is a fitting recipient of this year's prize."
Among other presentations, the Best Environmental Stand award went to Townsville Convention Bureau in recognition to their careful attention to detail on factors such as energy efficiency, a low carbon footprint and use of environmentally friendly products.
ExpoNet took out the award for Best Innovative stand, while the AFTA Best Business Travel Award Stand was awarded to American Express Meetings & Events. Best New Stand was awarded to Haycom, and Best Stand over 36 metres2 was awarded to Business Events Sydney.

Finally, the winner of the People's Choice Award goes to Disney Destinations International was decided by AIME attendees and Exhibitors.
Timmins added "our panel of industry judges found these weren't easy decisions to make. All of our Exhibitors are showcasing amazing stands and the level of creativity and imagination on display simply blew the judging panel away."
