Jordin Sports Surfaces gains ITF recognition for Sheldon College court

Leading Australian sport surfacing company Jordin Sports Surfaces has gained International Tennis Federation (ITF) One-Star Recognition for their surfacing of Court 6 at Sheldon College, just south of Brisbane.

ITF Recognition is an acknowledgement that a court meets the recommendations provided in the ITF Guide to Test Methods for Tennis Court Surfaces.

Jordin Sports’ work at the facility had also been adjudged the winner of the 2017 Sports and Play Industry Association (SAPIA) Industry Award for Construction of a Commercial Sports Court.

Commenting on the project, Jordin Sports Director Ross Jordin stated “I am very proud of the fact that Jordin Sports has been recognised in this way, although we have been building quality tennis courts in Queensland for 40 years.”

To obtain One-Star ITF Recognition, courts are tested for quality of installation against the following criteria:

• Visual inspection - the court is inspected for visual flaws;
• Evenness (ITF CS 02/02) - undulations in the surface of the court are measured;
• Slope and planarity (ITF CS 03/03) - the height of the surface is surveyed at a range of locations around the court;
• Dimensions (ITF CS 04/02) - the positions of the lines and net are measured.

Testing for One-Star ITF Recognition must be conducted by an ITF Accredited laboratory with the Sheldon College project conducted by SAPIA Member and accredited test laboratory Acousto-scan.
