Interest in domestic tourism results in increased caravan sales
The latest survey conducted by caravancampingsales.com.au has shown that with an increased interest in domestic tourism, 67% of Australians are more likely to consider buying a caravan as a result of COVID-19 travel restrictions.
To support the industry through this challenging period and encourage more Australians to explore their home turf, caravancampingsales will be hosting its inaugural three-week Great Outdoors Online Expo, commencing 1st July and running until 22nd July.
A step-up from the traditional regional or big city caravan show, the caravancampingsales Great Outdoors Online Expo will see the latest caravans, campervans, motorhomes, camper-trailers and more, showcased online. Buyers can expect discounts and Expo specials from leading RV manufacturers including New Age Caravans and Apollo Campervans.
caravancampingsales RV Editor, Chris Fincham advises “interest in caravanning and other RVs has grown substantially amid COVID-19, so we are excited about the deals the Expo will offer. Whether customers are shopping as a family, young traveller, retiree or newlywed, there is something for everyone.
“Overseas travel might be off the table but Australia has amazing holiday locations right on our front doorstep. Road trips are a great way to create memories, share stories, discover ancient history from the mountains to the sea, and take in new horizons.”
Despite the ease of restrictions in various states, hygiene is still a primary concern with 38.8% of the caravancampingsales survey respondents suggesting travel flexibility and owning a caravan is more appealing post COVID-19.
With 66.5% of those surveyed planning to go on holiday via caravan within the next two to three months and 29.9% planning to travel in the next month, respondents’ top three dream destinations include the Kimberley (1), Tasmania (2) and Queensland (3).
Fincham adds “West Australia’s unspoiled Kimberley region should be on everyone’s post-lockdown bucket list – from the beautiful beaches of Broome and Cape Leveque, to the stunning waterholes, river crossings and hiking trails along the dusty Gibb River Road… There is plenty to see and do.
“Picture-postcard roads, world-heritage listed wilderness regions such as Cradle Mountain and historic Hobart are just a few of Tassie’s gems.
“And for a family adventure from Gold Coast theme parks and fashionable Noosa, to whale watching in Hervey Bay and crocodile cruises along the Daintree River in FNQ, sunny Queensland is a perfect choice.”
As for current caravan owners, the caravancampingsales survey shows 13% are looking to upgrade as a result of the pandemic.
Australians can shop from home for their next big adventure at the caravancampingsales Great Outdoors Online Expo from next Wednesday, 1st July via www.caravancampingsales.com.au.
