Inglewood Swimming Pool opens with a splash
Residents of the southern Queensland town of Inglewood are set to enjoy a cooler, wetter summer following the completion of the town's new $2.2 million swimming complex.
Opening the facility, Queensland Sport Minister Phil Reeves stated âthe complex will feature a six-lane swimming pool, wading pool and new plant/pump room and filtration system.
âPeople of all ages will be able to enjoy the pools and cool off over the long summer months.
âFor the more serious swimmers, there will be club swimming competitions and training on offer, along with school swimming programs and general learn to swim classes.
âThis is great news for the local community, as this significant project will provide many more opportunities to improve their health and lifestyle through sport and recreation.?
The cost of the development was jointly funded by the Queensland Government and the Goondiwindi Regional Council.
Minister Reeves highlighted the Queensland Governmentâs commitment to developing more opportunities for Queenslanders to get fit and healthy, stating âwe want Queenslanders to develop a passion for physical activity at a young age so that they can carry it through into their adult life.
âEasy access to sporting facilities is critical if people are to be encouraged to get involved in sport and recreation.
âWe all know playing sport and getting active is one of the best ways to improve our quality of life, both physically and socially.
âBy continuing to fund significant sport and recreation facilities throughout Queensland, we are making it easier for people to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.?
âThatâs why we pump more funding into sport and recreation services than any other state.
