Industry figures recognised in Queen's Birthday honours
Among hundreds of Australians, from all walks of life, recognised with Queen's Birthday honours, this year's honours list includes a number of industry figures.
Ron Clarke MBE: Officer of the Order of Australia (AO)
Olympic athlete and founder of the Runaway Bay Sports Super Centre, Ron Clarke has been awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service in his leadership roles in local government and organisations and for work promoting athletics.
Clarke, who was one of the world's best known distance runners in the 1960s, won four silver medals at the Commonwealth Games between 1962 and 1970 and was a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 in the 10,000 metres event.
He served two terms as Gold Coast City Council mayor and established the RW Clarke Foundation to support young Australian athletes.
Colin Koch: Order of Australia (AM)
Colin Koch was honoured for his significant service to arts administration, particularly the development of indigenous art and culture.
Koch was Marketing Director of the Adelaide Festival from 1986-95, a co-founder of Arts Projects Australia and former Executive Officer of Regional Arts Australia before becoming the founding General Manager of the Aboriginal owned and governed Ananguku Arts and Culture Aboriginal Corporation, also known as Ku Arts, from 2002-07.
Bill Jamieson: Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
Bill Jamieson has been honoured for his contribution to the surf lifesaving community.
A former Surf Life Saving SA President, Jamieson is also an Onkaparinga councillor.
Among current sporting personalities, cyclist Cadel Evans has received an Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to cycling and to the community and two-time MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner has received an Order of Australia for significant service to motorcycle racing.
