Implications of legislative changes to dominate 2015 EVANZ Conference
With the theme ‘Future Proofing the Sector’, the implications of legislative changes for venues will be high on the agenda of the Entertainment Venues Association of New Zealand (EVANZ) annual conference from Monday 1st to Wednesday 3rd December.
New Zealand’s new Health and Safety Reform legislation will be considered in presentations by Wayne Middleton of Reliance Risk and Gwen Keel of lawyersTompkins Wake, while Ben Wooding of Armourguard Security will also facilitate a panel session on new security legislation that took full effect as of 1st October.
Gwen Keel will also present another industry address on ‘Legal Hot Topics’ at the conference, which is being held at The Dunedin Centre
With a more venue focus, but still addressing ‘Future Proofing’, the topic of ‘Christchurch On the Rise’ will be addressed by Neil Cox of the Isaac Theatre Royal and Darren Burden of Christchurch venue managers VBase.
The pair will explain how Christchurch is bouncing back from the multiple earthquakes of 2011 which devastated large parts of the city and the venue solutions within the city’s $40 billion rebuilding.
The EVANZ conference will also include a range of site tours and social events in and around Dunedin.
EVANZ is the peak body representing the venue industry in New Zealand with a membership of 88 venues nationally: including 40 theatres, 30 event centres, 10 outdoor stadia and eight convention centres. EVANZ aims to provide leadership and builds excellence for entertainment venues and facilitates the collective sharing of information, enhancement of skills and development of best practice.
